Bake/Cook Time: 5 Minutes Minutes

Ingredients:

1 Package (298 g)

Authentic Foods Pizza Crust Mix

1 TBSP (15 g)

Vegetable Oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil Recommended)

1 1/4 Cup (298 g)

Water

1 Packet (7 g)

Instant Yeast

Directions:

  1. Place the Authentic Foods Pizza Crust Mix followed by the yeast in a bowl for an electric stand mixer and mix. (You can also do this by hand if you don’t have an electric stand mixer)
  2. Add the water and oil to the flour and mixture and mix using the dough hook until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 balls (3.5 oz each). Cover the dough lightly with plastic wrap to proof for approximately 30-60 minutes.
  4. Preheat your BBQ to High Heat (450F ) and flatten the dough into approximately 6-inch rounds about a 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface. Try to make sure the pita is smooth on each side.
  5. Baked on pre-heated grill for about 2 minutes on the first side. You’ll see the pita blow up like a balloon. Then flip over and finish baking for about 90 seconds or your desired level of doneness.
  6. Allow the pitas to cool, and fill with anything else that’s on or off the grill!

I am looking forward to trying this recipe. I have missed my "pita bread" since being diagnosed celiac. One question: Can this be made in a 450+degree oven instead of on a grill -- or on an electric skillet surface set for 450+degrees? Hoping the answer is "YES."
